Sahakar Taxi Opens Applications for Chief Operating Officer (COO)

Sahakar Taxi, India’s first cooperative-based ride-hailing service, is looking for a Chief Operating Officer (COO) along with the Managing Director / CEO to lead and scale its operations across the country. Built on the principle of “drivers first, fair rides for all,” Sahakar Taxi offers passengers safe, affordable, and transparent rides while ensuring that local drivers keep 100% of their fare without hidden charges.

This role is a unique opportunity for an experienced leader to join a movement that is reshaping urban transport in India.

About the Role

The COO will be based in New Delhi and will bring at least 18 years of experience, including 3 years in the mobility sector and 5 years in IT or technology. This position is designed for someone who can combine vision with hands-on leadership. The person selected will oversee large-scale fleet operations, ensure high standards of safety and service, and guide teams to deliver smooth and efficient ride-hailing services across multiple cities.

This role is not only about operations. It is about building trust with drivers and passengers, creating a culture of excellence, and driving growth that is sustainable and fair.

Key Responsibilities

The COO will take full charge of daily operations and long-term planning. Some of the major responsibilities include:

• Managing a large fleet of vehicles with a focus on uptime, reliability, and cost control.
• Overseeing city operations, driver management, customer service, and maintenance systems.
• Establishing a Network Operations Center (NOC) for real-time monitoring and efficiency.
• Improving operational processes to reduce downtime and deliver faster, safer rides.
• Expanding services across cities, with expertise in both EV and non-EV fleet management.
• Building and mentoring cross-functional teams in operations, HR, finance, and analytics.
• Enhancing customer satisfaction and driver engagement through continuous feedback.
• Managing B2B contracts, prepaid service models, and corporate partnerships.
• Using data-driven decision-making with advanced tools like ERP, AI, and real-time dashboards.
• Ensuring regulatory compliance, legal safety, and risk management at all levels.

This role will also work closely with the CEO and the Board to deliver on Sahakar Taxi’s vision and growth strategy.

Skills and Qualifications

The right candidate will bring:

• A graduate degree in Engineering (B.Tech/M.Tech) and a full-time MBA/PGDM/Executive MBA.
• Proven leadership in managing fleets of over 1,000 vehicles and teams of more than 100 employees.
• Strong knowledge of customer experience, urban mobility challenges, and sustainable transport.
• Hands-on expertise in ERP systems, operational transformation, and large-scale business expansion.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

The maximum age limit for this role is 50 years as of 31 July 2025. The appointment will be on a fixed-term basis of three years, extendable by two years depending on performance.
